About Nick Myers

A statewide elected regulator with a technical, business-owner's perspective on the utility sector he now oversees.

Nick Myers took office in 2022 as a statewide-elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission, which regulates electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and telephone utilities in Arizona, along with securities, corporate filings, and railroad and pipeline safety. He was elected Vice Chairman in January 2025 and Chairman in January 2026.

Before joining the Commission, Nick served as a policy advisor in the office of Commissioner Justin Olson, working on utility rate case matters, regulatory policy, and docket strategy. Before that, he spent 18 years in the software engineering industry, followed by several years as owner and CEO of his own technology business.

Nick chairs a 13-state regional market design committee for the Southwest Power Pool and holds national leadership roles with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and the FERC-NARUC Federal-State Current Issues Collaborative.

Selected initiatives led or championed since taking office.

Formula Rate Plan Policy

Opened a docket on his first day in office that led to the Commission's 2024 adoption of a Formula Rate Plan Policy, reducing regulatory lag and improving transparency for utilities and ratepayers.

Nuclear & Natural Gas Expansion

Launched formal Commission inquiries into expanding nuclear and natural gas generation, and championed an "Advancing Nuclear Power Generation in Arizona" workshop series with state and federal partners.

Wildfire Mitigation Town Halls

Established and chairs an annual statewide Utility Wildfire Mitigation Special Meeting and Town Hall addressing wildfire risk mitigation planning.

Load Growth & Data Centers

Engaged on emerging load-growth issues at the state and national level, including the regulatory challenges posed by data centers and large industrial customers.

Southwest Power Pool (SPP)

Chairman of the Markets+ State Committee, leading state regulators from 13 Western states on the governance and design of SPP's Markets+, a day-ahead energy market in the West. Also serves as Arizona's representative on the Regional State Committee.

NARUC

Member of the FERC-NARUC Federal-State Current Issues Collaborative, the Committee on Gas, and the Committee on Critical Infrastructure; Co-Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Nuclear Energy.

Western Resource Adequacy Program
